| Miatas and Mensans at Mimi's and the Museum
Sunday, August 17, 2008, Noon, Mimi's Cafe, St Johns Town Center, 10209 River Coast Drive, Jacksonville, FL 32246, 904-620-0660, Facing Town Center Parkway.
Meet FCMC members and guests, with a few Mensans thrown in, for Sunday Brunch at Mimi's Cafe, where your taste buds will be tickled by yummy goodies and your brains will be stimulated by scintillating conversation. After we have had our fill, we will caravan to Riverside to go to the Cummer Museum, where we will meet up with some more Mensans for a field trip. Why the Cummer? Did you ever wonder---What is the anatomy of human conjoined twins? Where do our muscles connect to our bones? Leonardo da Vinci did what? Where did those pen and ink illustrations in your Biology textbook come from anyway? Learn about the history, science and art of Medical Illustration at this special exhibit created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of medical illustration at Mayo Clinic. Not for the queasy! Learn more than you ever wanted to know about the human body while you marvel at the work of the dedicated artists whose work has helped change the practice of medicine and the study of human anatomy. Here is your chance to view a portion of Mayo Clinic's vast collection of medical illustration. Admission to the Cummer Museum is Free for Members, $10 for Adults, $6 for Seniors and Military, $6 for Students and Free for Children 5 years and under. If time allows, we may visit the permanent collection as well as the gardens. Maybe even dinner afterwards at Al's Pizza just up the street? If you have questions or want to RSVP to assure yourself a seat at Brunch, please call Shirley at 904-292-1072 (Home) or 904-607-8928 (Cell.)
